Alright people, I told you it was show week this past week. So I had to take a small hiatus from the ole blog to keep some sanity! To sum up how this week went - the shows were successful, I should never be allowed to text again, and being an adult and doing the adult thing can be really difficult sometimes (maybe more on that one day...)
Anyways, let's talk food. So, because I wasn't in my kitchen much this week other than to feed The Gang (my cats), I decided that it would be best to try to eat out in a healthy, cheap way.
Note to self and to everyone: It is IMPOSSIBLE to eat healthy foods at a cheap price. No wonder obesity is such a big deal in America. I've always thought about the correlation between poverty and obesity here in America. When you can go through the drive through and get dollar menu burgers for cheaper than you can get fresh produce - Houston, we have a problem!
Anyways, I did have some delicious food from some delicious places this week! Greensboro has a pretty killer food scene right now! Especially compared to the small town of Mocksville (commonly known as Mocksvegas for ironic purposes) where I grew up. It was a big deal when we got a Walmart! But - Greensboro is poppin'! We are the home of Hops, a burger bar well-known Nationwide. We have Crafted and McCouls and the Iron Hen.
I didn't go to any of those places though but I would recommend them all!
I went to some of the less well-known Gems of Greensboro.
So, if you're in Greensboro, looking for some delicious food, here's what I would recommend...
The Boba House on Tate Street - a vegetarian restaurant that offers "chicken," "beef," and "fish." That's literally how it is listed on the menu. I don't ask questions. I don't want to know what that stuff actually is but the Pad Thai is SO delicious as are the "Crab" Rangoons! Yum!
Pho Hien Vuong on Spring Garden - Also another great spot to get Pad Thai A little on the expensive side but the portions are great!
Chinese Kitchen off of Friendly Ave - Anyone noticing a trend here? Vietnamese, Chinese... I guess in some ways there was a theme of this week! Chinese Kitchen is SO delicious and fairly inexpensive if you go for lunch!
SIDE NOTE: One time in college, I got broken up with in the most uncomfortable way at Chinese Kitchen. The dude actually took me there, we ordered our food, and THEN he broke up with me as we waited for our food. Talk about awkward! As soon as I got my food, I took 3 bites and took the rest home to eat in privacy! But that just goes to show how much I love Chinese Kitchen. Even with that awkward memory lingering in the atmosphere, I'll still go there!
So that is the end of my very expensive Vietnamese, Thai, and Chinese take out journey.
As far as this week goes, get ready for some spice because we are headed to Morocco!!!
