Okay let's talk about cats. In case you missed it, one of my (coughthreecoughcough) cats became Buzzfeed Famous this week. Yeah, I'm the one that did all the work and now he walks around the house like he owns the place. Actually, that's not really a new behavior....
Criminal History: Using the floor as a litter box, knocking cups off tables, poking sleeping faces
Weird Fact: Hemingway is named after Ernest Hemingway. My Hemi is a polydactyl cat which means he has extra toes. Basically, his front feet look like little mittens. Ernest Hemingway only had polydactyl cats and if you go to his house in Key West, you can meet many ancestors of his cats! All with extra toes!
Now that you have the facts, let's talk about Hemingway's Devil Cat Moment of the Week...
But first, pizza.
This story starts with pizza. Cheese pizza with ranch dressing. What can I say, it's my guilty pleasure. So earlier this week, Sara and I are sitting on my couch, watching some scary ass movie, eating our pizza. Ranch cup opened. Lid upside down on the couch.
Enter Hemingway. Also likes pizza. Jumps onto couch to get said pizza. Foot hits the ranch lid. His foot slides as we make panicked eye contact. Devil Cat jumps in fear. Devil Cat's ranch soaked foot hits my plate. Ranch cup and Devil Cat fly into the air. Ranch cup hits the ground but now it's just a cup because the ranch is on the floor, my blanket, my shoes, and on the cat's extra-toed little paw.
So I made eye contact with Sara. She laughed. I laughed. And that was the end of the story.
Anyway, the rest of you may not find this as hilarious as I did but maybe in some ways this post is more for me. It was a little moment. A stupid moment with a cat foot and a ranch cup but it was a stupid moment that made me laugh. That doubled-over, gasping for air laughter that fills you with warmth. In a year, I would have forgotten about this moment but now I won't. Because I've captured one of life's little moments.
Okay. Ew. Enough sappy talk. There you have it. A blog post about a deformed cat, a ranch cup, and a gut-busting laughter fit.
Shoutout to my Bro-ski Sara for sharing that moment with me!
Hello, my name is Anna and I take too many cat pictures.
